Beyond the Bottomline: Rescue, Restore, Repeat: The Mission of Wasteless Solutions

In the latest episode of Beyond the Bottom Line, Sean Littman sits down with Alexx Goeller, the Executive Director of Wasteless Solutions, a nonprofit dedicated to diverting surplus edible food from landfills to those facing food insecurity.

Alexx, who has been leading Wasteless Solutions since June 2025, shares her passion for addressing food waste and its impact on communities. “I didn’t know food waste was such an issue until I started looking into it a couple of years ago,” she reveals. The organization has been operational since 2018 and is the only food rescue operation of its kind in Utah. They have a simple yet impactful mission: to ensure edible food reaches people who need it.

Innovative Food Rescue
What sets Wasteless Solutions apart is their agility and flexibility in handling perishable foods. They quickly move fresh fruits and vegetables from donors to over a hundred partner nonprofits, including shelters and low-income housing complexes. Alexx emphasizes the importance of problem-solving in their operations, saying, “We’re usually who they call to figure out where surplus food can go.”
One innovative approach they’ve implemented is mobile markets, allowing individuals to choose their food. This not only meets immediate needs but also restores dignity to the process.
