On this episode of Beyond the Bottom Line, Sean Littman sits down with siblings Wesley Todd Holiday and Faith Holiday, co-CEOs of Holiday Hoops.
Founded by their parents, first-generation college students and athletes—Holiday Hoops began as a way to give back through sports. Years later, Faith restarted the organization after seeing too many kids fall through the cracks, and Wesley joined to help build the infrastructure needed to sustain and grow the work.
At its core, Holiday Hoops uses competitive AAU basketball as an entry point—but the real work happens beyond the court. The organization emphasizes discipline, accountability, teamwork, and character, reflected in its name: HOOPS—Helping Others Obtain Personal Success. For many participants, the outcome isn’t a scholarship or a professional career, but the confidence and life skills to succeed in whatever path they choose.
The conversation also explores Holiday Hoops’ broader, more holistic approach to youth development, including the launch of the ARTS (Amplifying and Refining Talents) program and an annual community health event focused on mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Wesley and Faith share candid lessons from running a grassroots nonprofit: why passion has to come first, how ego can quietly undermine impact, and why building the right team—and taking care of yourself—matters more than doing everything alone.
